I need to support a 1.5" drain line in my basement. I'm just using some c-clamps that screw in:

Am I better off with tap-con? Or should I go with ram set?

If they're the plastic hooks, use the tapcons. I've blown right through a couple of those with the hilti nails.

Tapcons for sure. Not that you'll need to remove the clamp but have you ever tried pulling Ramset fasteners?

Spend Five bucks and buy some actual pipe hangers, that is the metal stuff with all the holes and an adjustable circle deal to hold thee on one end. Then tap on or ramset. And I would never try to pull a ramset out....but they break off pretty easily! Ron

I've tried pulling them. They rip a big 'ole chunk of block right out with them. I had the same happen a couple of times when breaking them off, too, so I resorted to an angle grinder with a metal cut off wheel. That makes short work of them and grinds them flush.

Hilti/ramsets are definitely faster, but they don't always sink the head flush. Or sometimes they'll push in a little too far and may actually distort the clamp.

Tapcons also hold up better against rust. Not sure about ramset, but the power nails I bought from homedepot did not last.
