I am planning to do a custom swingset for my kids. The swingset will be a typical A-Frame on one side, and the other side one will rest on a 4x4 post, attached to the tower (slide, climbing, etc.)

I was planning to use a 4x6 for the top, but there is none in my area. Will a 4x4 enough, sistering 2x6, another option?

Thank you.

I don't know but the 2 store I called told me it wasn't a standard cut.

I'm gonna put 2 swing on the beam. What sistering 2 2x6 is going to be my option now?
Make that 3 , 2X6, and we will agree that is enough. :devil3:

If two older, bigger people happen to be on it and happen to synchronize their movement, the inertial force will be more than a double can hold.

Glue and SCREWS are your best option here.

I just remembered, MENARDS, states that they can order lumber in sizes that others will say that they cannot.

Try MENARDS.

Thanks for the advices. Sadly, Menards isn't available in my area.

2-2x6 would not allow you to drill vertically through the assembly without compromising both pieces of lumber. 3-2x6, as suggested, is much better. Then you drill vertically through the center member, for your screw eye hangers.
