Hi all,

In our garage we have a vent connected to the furnace. I currently only let a trickle heat out, cause I am concerned about off gases from the car entering the house from the vent.

Would it be beneficial to spend a few hundred dollars to install a 240V 5000W heater with a thermostat? Set it to 65F. So when the garage door opens and the temp drops very quickly (in Canada winter), this heater can quickly bring back the temp. Would it also be beneficial to the bedroom above?

Thanks!
Terry

Only you can answer whether the cost is beneficial to you.

And yes, the warmer it is in garage, it will be beneficial to a bedroom located above the garage.

Seal off the vent. Code prohibits it in a garage when the rest of the duct work connects to the house.
