i have two of these sunken sockets in my hardwood floors. however, the placement of one of these sockets is underneath the oriental rug. a regular lamp plug is too tall for the socket to be even with the floor and when i try an extender to be used with a flat plug, the extender is also too tall. any suggestions?

A floor receptacle is not meant to be covered with a rug while in use. Cords must not be strung under rugs and carpets.

If you want to use the receptacle, remove the rug and put furniture around the receptacle so no one can step on it while it is in use.

The receptacle is properly sunken so a lid flush with the floor can be put over it when it is not in use.

When going on vacation such as to Walt Disney World, bring an extender (a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter will do) so if the only receptacle available to recharge your camcorder battery is in the restaurant floor and too far recessed, you can use it.
