Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I would like to see if I can get any help before I start helping myself seeing as I am an electrician. But this is a plumbing question.
The wife and I just recently bought a new home. It's raining quite heavily tonight and the sump pump in my basement is kicking in every 5 or 10 minutes. I'm not a dummy to home renovations so I do have half a clue what's going on.
My sump pump is drained into a drain that my upstairs is also draining into, but when the sump kicks in the sink up stairs gurgles and drains my p trap. There is an air admittance valve under the sink upstairs and I put a bag over it just for a moment to see if it's actually working and it does suck air in through it. So what could be my problem? Do I need a vent or an AAV on my sump pump drain? Or is there another solution. Please help, it's quite loud in the night time.
Thanks.
Mark
