I have an outside lamp post with 400 watt capacity that is wired to the sump pump that is on a GFI in a Bathroom. Keeps tripping. Is it Code that Sump Puump has to be on seperate circuit??

Light and sump should not be on bathroom circuit.

The sump pump should be on a dedicated circuit. It does not have to be GFCI by code, but should be in my opinion - submersible pumps do frequently have ground faults, and it can be very dangerous. The yard light should also not be on the bathroom circuit, but can share a circuit with something else. GFCI protection for it is also a good idea, and may be required depending on how it's wired. You'll find out when you separate them which thing is causing the existing GFCI to trip.

Article 210.8 in the 2011 has been revised and would now require GFI protection for the sump pump unless it was 240 volt.

Jim ., Just be aware some local codes may try to override the new code edition. I know state of Wisconsin say if duplex then oui RCD { GFCI } but singleplex some area say GFCI and some say no GFCI but in France we allready have RCD protection and genrally it will be it own circuit.
