So it was the dishwasher last monday. Oven last wednesday. And today something smelled fishy in the house.

I caught one of my dogs licking the bottom of my upright freezer in the basement. I opened the door... and OH MY GOD! a gallon of fetid blood and water gushed out. 100 lbs of spoiled food including 10 of the world's best meat loafs. :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

So, it is so long to our 25 yo upright freezer that I got for free at an estate sale five years ago.

so what happened to your freezer alarm?

What's that you say? You don't have one?

Whoops.

if you are really geeky, you can hook up a thermocouple to a reader and feed the info to your computer so you can record temp continually. That way you will know if the ice cream will have ice crystals in it or not.

But our new freezer (that was 10% off at Blowes for being Energy Star) does have both a temp and door alarm... so there.

DAMN. I wanted meatloaf for dinner tomorrow. The key is wrapping the loaf in bacon. MMMMM.

There aren't many things that smell worse than rotted meat. Well....maybe rotten eggs. No, the meat is worse.

Sooooooo~~~did you empty the freezer or put a chain and padlock around it and wheel it to the curb?

You're right about the bacon wrapped around the meatloaf. It's the best-kept meatloaf secret and should never be given out to any....ooohhhh, too late!

- I emptied the freezer into doubled construction grade trashbags. Thank goodness trash goes out tonight.
- Sprayed the freezer and surrounding area with bleach solution.
- Set up a fan to suck the smell out of the basement - it was right under my kitchen - super yuck.
- Moved the freezer up the six steps out of my walk out basement - it's now laying on it's back in my grass - VERY classy.
- Put down dryzorb, swept, and reapplied.
- New freezer will get delivered Monday. They will take old freezer away.

grrrr
