I am in the process of installing my new system and have run into a stupid snag. The suction line 3/4" and the liquid line is 3/8". I need to install some elbows into the suction line to complete the connection. The problem is that all of the 3/4" copper elbows I can find anywhere are too big. Rheem says that it is a 3/4" suction line and the line that I have fits both the condenser unit and the air handler. Whats the deal, are there special HVAC suction line elbows that fit that size or do I have to fasion something?

Those are nice. If I had a simple cut I would go with that. Since the suction line crumples when I bend it I need 90 and 45 deg elbows. Apparently the ones I purchased are not to spec. I did something dumb and purchased them from the plumbing section. I guess they are not the same thing. I measured the suction line and it is exactly 3/4" just like it is suppose to be. That means the fittings are wrong. At that rate I could by a smaller size and they would work. Or I guess I can order the right stuff from an HVAC supplier. Has anyone else seen this?

Air Conditioning uses copper sizes that are different than plumbers sizes.

You need ACR copper fittings and you should use wide radius Ells on the suction line to cut down on the restriction.

Thanks for the replies. I found the OD ID info online somewhere at about 4am this morning. I ordered the right thing then from a HVAC supplier. One day I am going to write up a common issues FAQ. Thanks.
