Hi Folks,
A woodpecker has decided that my deck rail is his peck of choice for now. I have filled in the holes and stained the deck, and he hasn't been around the last two days. If he returns, have any of you had success with any deterrents out there? The spray-on stuff is intriguing, but expensive. The owl is cheap, as are other passive devices (big eyes with streamers, e.g.) My question about the owl and big eyes with streamers is - will they also deter the other birds? We have a feeder on the deck and we don't want to also scare those birds that visit it. My wife said, "Just cover up the railing for a week. Maybe he'll forget and move on." Do birds behave that way?
Thanks!
Woz
