Subway tile style counter in kitchen island/bar??
So I have a bar/island that splits our kitchen/living area. I stoned the front and sides of the bar and am now looking at a unique top. I want it to look different than the counter surfaces in the kitchen so it seems like its own space.
I was thinking of taking 1" thick attractive cedar boards and cutting them into brick-shaped tiles, 3""6" and then tiling the countertop in a subway style. I would then use a bar-top epoxy. My thinking is that the cold of the stone and the warmth of the cedar would be nice and inviting.
Any ideas or experience along these lines? This is a shot on the dark.
