We are thinking of installing naildown hardwoods or strand bamboo in our kitchen. The subfloor is 5/8 plywood from 1964 and I don't believe it is T&G. Joists are 16"OC. Do I need to add to the subfloor or am I good to go right over the existing?

Thanks,
Eric

I would go over it with 3/8 subfloor rated plywood, make sure the seams do not line up with the seams below, use underlament nails, do not nail into the joist, every 4" on the edges and 6 to 8" in the field.
DO not use glue!
Why that the chance or it squecking?
