I am building a covered porch type structure. The one side is anchored off the back of the 2 story house using a 2x10 ledger board lagged into studs every 16". I have hangers 16" on center on that board. I have (4) 4x4 PT columns spaced 10' apart with a total distance of 30 or so feet. The distance from the ledger board to the 4x4 posts is 14'. The 14' "joists" will be 2x8 and tie into a 2x10 bolted onto the 4x4 posts. It will have a very light weight roof that will be sheeted with 1/2 ply. The ceiling will be t&g material. My question is if the 10' spaced 4x4s is sufficient for the load? thanks in advance,Pete

Get a permit for your structural change and added load to the 1st floor studs. Your H.O. Insurance love the paper trail and it will not be contested at selling......

Please only post the same exact question in one forum, thank you. I removed your duplicate post in "Carpentry".

Carry on...............
