While removing old flooring in the attic i removed one of the strongback joists without realizing what it was. The other is still intact. Unfortunately the wood cracked as I hammered it out and i'll have to get some new one .
How critical is it to replace the one I took out ASAP , or I am ok to wait until I finish the insulation project.

It depends on how long you plan to wait. Check the weather to be sure there is not a big storm coming. if the weather is good with no high winds and such you should be ok for a few days.
