We are having a new concrete driveway put in. 53' long and 18' wide. The slab is 4-5" thick. Right now it has stress relief lines (or whatever you call them) across the slab about every 10-12 feet. They are asking me if I want a line down the center of the driveway. I'm not sure they are asking if I want it because it is beneficial; or just to make me feel better.

Any comments on this center line appreciated. We are talking South Florida here, no cold weather. thanks.

Yes ,you want the line down the center.

Forgot to say, the first 8 ft. from the curb need to be 6" thick, then transition to 4" for the balance of the driveway here, if that's the case where you are, be sure they use expansion joint between the different thickness or it WILL crack across the entire slab.

I certainly agree with everything that Canary said. Actually I would probably have them put the line down the center and cut across lines every 9'. That way the cuts would form almost perfect squares. Getting more effective it may look a little more aesthetically pleasing.
