Still Learning! More Questions!!

I really appreciate all the time and patience from the experts on this site! I've been on here a little over a year, and it seems I have more questions now than when I started!
At this point, we are about 1/3 of the way into a major renovation and redecorating project.
Going forward, there are some things I would like to improve upon.
1st Question - wall paint!
Twenty years ago, we did our share of painting and BM Regal was our favorite, but I didn't like how it applied this time around. Paint store told us that BM Super Spec (eggshell), was the closest to the old Regal. It laid down well, but now we see that it takes marks easily, and I'm hesitant as to what to clean it with.
So far I've used it in 4 bedrooms and a stairway/hallway. Bedrooms are fairly large, and used only for guests, so it should stand up fine there. But I think I might need to repaint the hall and stairway. I'm using all BM colors, so should I try Regal again, go up to Aura or ??
And, since I still have a couple of gallons of the Super Spec (in the same color I will be using), can I use that for a 1st coat, and go over it with the better grade?:boat:

I have no idea what the guy at the store was saying- actually he didn't.
BM is slowly moving all its paints to the new Gennex tint system. The new version of Regal is called Regal select- and I use it all the time.
For scuff resistance nothing beats Aura. But it is pricy. I use it frequently.
I have heard that the "Ben " line ( one up from Super Spec) is actually a reformulated version of the old Regal ( not SS)
And the new Gennex Super Spec is called Ultra spec- and is good for the price, but will not be as hardy as Aura of course.

And you can use the SS to first coat no problem. I do that when using Aura.
Same color- gets it very close so Aura can knock it home.

BTW- when using SS or US- add a splash (less than 10%) of water and use a 1/2 roller ( a good one..) . Makes it actually cover better.

It is a very reputable paint dealer with several locations in the twin cities- one note though - they don't carry the "BEN" line.
Anyway -great to know I can still use up the SS, and go over it with a better grade. I will ask alot more questions based on your information. Painting all the rooms on the main floor next, so those all have more everyday "wear & tear". (Front entry, living room, dining room, kitchen & great room, back hallway.) Needs to be "scrubbable"!
Twin Cities! OK- I might even know the guy a t abbot! lol

Need a hand? I'm around.. pm me..

BTW- If you deal with abbott- the Muralo line is great stuff with a little savings. I would use it more- but I like to use paints that are relatively close to clients, and haven't been doing that much in St Paul recently...

say hi to big Mike from Rob Y...
