Hello everyone. I need help wiring my steam shower. Here's what I have. Unit is 220v 30amp. I have 8/3 with bare ground running to unit on a 30 amp gfci breaker. I need to connect the three power cords from the machine. The main unit cord is 10/4 220v 19amps. The water pump cord is also 10/4, it powers two pumps which are 220v 3.8 amps each. The inline heater is three wires 12 gauge, brown, blue, yellow and green stripe. The label on the cord says brown is hot, blue is neutral, yellow and green is ground. There is also a second ground cable on the body of the heater, it is 220v 6.8 amps.

Are you in the US or Canada? Is this UL or similarly approved? It sounds like you need 3 separate circuits. Does the unit have installation instructions?

Looking at the instructions it looks like all of these connections should terminate in a waterproof box outside of the shower. It also says that in no case shall the home where do the wiring, it should be done by a qualified electrician. The electrician is going to have to actually look at the unit considering the instructions are so vague as to how it should be wired up.

I am still looking for an electrician. There was a big tornado a few months ago and everyone I have called has either blew me off of been booked for the next month. I actually just bought my house with a 203k loan and my general contractor backed out of wiring it up as well. Thank you for the time you took to look it over though, I appreciate it.

where did you buy this thing and where was it made??? some of the instructions are unreal such as this little dandy"
SOME NOTES NOT TO FORGET
These showers are designed to be free standing and movable from their location should you have need to replace anything.
ALWAYS USE
Flexible
braided water inlet hoses (same as your dishwasher or washing machine hoses) at least 3
-
6 feet long. Use flexible hoses for your
waste pipe as well.
NEVER
install using rigid pipes and
NEVER
attach the unit to the wall
I never saw flexible drain lines that will let you move the unit around...:vs_worry:

For anyone who is interested, this is the entire text of info on the electrical installation:

POWER REQUIREMENTS
TOTAL ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
Voltage Rating: 220-240AC
Ampere: 30 AMP
Amp Power Rating: 4.2KW
Your electrical contractor should understand ALL legal requirements of connection before undertaking this
installation.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES UNDERTAKE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
YOURSELF!!!
Note for electrician: This product utilizes 10/4 wire, 220 connection. Connect this cable into a suitable
socket with more than adequate power supply, preferably in another room. Make certain no contact
with moisture or steam is possible. Never use an extension lead. We provide the main power cable
“as is” because it will allow the electrician many different connection options.
• Connect in accordance with current laws and IP directives using plug and RCD protection.
• (Preferred) Wire into isolated fused feed connecting directly to the homes service box. Remove the
fitted plug and ensure the homes main electrical control panel has capabilities to replace the RCD
feature, if the RCD feature is removed.

It sounds like they expect this to be Plug/Cord/Wall Recepticle connected.

On the link you provided, there is a connection diagram (of sorts) not in the installation instructions, but in the operations manual. It clearly shows one 240 volt, 4 wire feed into a central junction box, with both the pump and steam generator emanating from this junction box. The junction box you need to find is located somewhere inside the unit.

You need four conductors of at least #10 AWG from your service panel (two hot, one neutral, and ground) and a NEMA 30 amp rated four wire plug and receptacle arrangement of your choice.
