Hi All
We got our stairs upgraded from carpet to hardwood. Instead of putting whole tread, out contractor just put replace the carpte with cherry wood. See picture attached. Now we ar deabting about puting wrought iron balusters. and staining railing to match cherry color. SHould the balusters be painted white to match the white false treads on side or paint the newel and white part of tread to cherry color.
Please advice.

working in hundreds of houses over the years i have always thought that painted balusters looked better then the ones that were stained the same as the rails. the newel posts and the rails were always stained to match the treads if they weren't carpeted. the balusters in the house we bought are stained the same and are going to be painted to match my trim color when i get the time to do it. if you decide to go with the wrought iron balusters i would leave them the color you get them in.

I have to ask for my own curiosity ..... why replace them with wrought iron?
