Staircase install

Hi I am trying to put in a new staircase, however the floor joists above run across the new opening. There is only one stud wall on them and this too runs across them, but not in The way of the new opening. My question is how do I keep the strength in the floor because when I cut the opening the joists will no longer be resting on a brick wall at that end.? The new stairs are to run up beside one of the Walls which the joists sit on cheers

Post some photos of the area involved so we can see the structure.
Will try but getting"error with forum plug in" will persevere.
its tough to call without a picture. it sounds like you need to add a supporting wall under the floor before you cut those joists.

You need to reduce the size of the picture. Try posting them to a photo place and transferring them here.
