Stair covering

I have a set of stairs leading up from the street in my home in Park City, Utah. I removed the carpet (worn and dirty) and would like to cover the wood with something resistant to water, snow and grit. I don't want the expense and difficulty with tile (concerned about the work to cover the round nosing). Think about rubber/vinyl. Any ideas, companies providing something moderately stylish?
