Hello all, using a 10 ft. fence post as a flag pole. how do I stabilize it until the concrete sets? also, how much concrete is needed? will a 80 lb bag suffice? Thanks
Drive 3 pegs in the dirt equidistant in a circle and tie a string off from about 5-6 ft. up on the post to those pegs with a clove hitch knot or a improved quick release clove hitch. The tension on each is quickly adjustable to plumb the post.
Given the post size + hole diameter and depth Neal will calculate the concrete needed.:vs_laugh:
EDIT: EDIT:
if you were using locust or suitable wood mtl, conc collar's all you need,,, set the post & fill w/sand up to w/in 8" of grade,,, when the post rots, much easier to just hammer off the collar rather'n bust out a hole full of conc,,, use stiff conc & you won't need to stabilize it
