Not going to find them with a stud finder.
Going to have to peel the carpet back enough to find the nails in the sub flooring.

Squeaky Floors under Carpeting
I have a problem finding joists under thick carpeting and thick padding. I want to eliminate the sqeaks with the SQEEEK NO MORE KIT. Looks simple, but no one mentions airconditiong/ heating ducts between the joists that interfer while "probing" for joists....So, the procedure is far more complex than the ideal situation with unfinished basements underneath....
