I'm trying to find a square recessed light that will fit in a square hole that is 8 1/4" wide. There is about 6" clearance inside the casing. It goes over my kitchen sink. Right now someone just screwed on a fluorescent light that looks sloppy. I'm having a hard time finding a light that will fit into a square hole of that size. I don't have much room to make the square any bigger. Any idea where I can find a light that fits my needs? Thanks!

Years ago they used to have square recess lights. But I don't think they make them anymore. At least I haven't seen any.

Most manufacturers of recessed lights offer a square fixture. Look online or visit a lighting store to find what sizes they offer.

Hey once I close on my house i'll have 2 square recessed lights i'd want to get rid of. Don't know how big they are but i'd want to put in a few more recessed cans than the two that are in the basement currently. Its a room roughly 22x13 and its fairly poor lighting from just two recessed lights. Only trick will be converting the square hole into a round hole; though I may end up ripping the ceiling down and re-doing it.
