Hi All,

I just purchased sc816d200c and it has an odd mounting system I can't make sense of. No through holes, just four hanging tabs. Obviously the box is meant to hang on a set of screw heads, but I'd like to tighten the screws after the box gets hung on them, which I can't do because the box will cover them up. Also, to get the top two tabs to hang properly (teardrop shape with smaller part on top), they would have to be flipped up and protrude above the box. I don't like this because it looks sloppy and it also means the box could be unscrewed by some neighbor kid.

What am I missing?

No instructions were included with the box and no information is on their website. The unit was manufactured only one month ago. Is this some new mounting system they've come up with recently?

It was suggested over on electriciantalk (before I they realized I wasn't a pro) that I just drilled out the rivets for the tabs and use the holes to bolt it to the wall.

That's all fine, except it wasn't meant for this and there isn't an offset large enough to keep the screws on the back of the box from hitting the wall. I suppose it would work if I put some washers between the wall and the box to create an offset.

So are the rotating mounting tabs designed to slide into a unistrut track?

Or do I put spring nuts in the unistrut track and screw into those? I'm a little unsure how I'd do that since there are no through holes in the back of the panel to put the screws through.

Frustrated that Square D didn't include a manual and they have zero documentation on their website.

Is this a common mounting system?

The spec sheet has a note that the brackets swing outwards to 16" centers.

In one of the views, the lower set are shown as being horizontal and protruding beyond either side of the panel.

Play with the brackets until you achieve the 16 inch spacing. Once you have the positioning of the brackets correct, you should then be able to screw mount to the studs.
