Sprucing Up Garage Doors

We have garage doors identical to these on our house.



Tried to spruce them up by attaching carriage door hinges--love the look. Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the things that make the windows look like that, just revealing square windows? Also, if so, what would be a good way to spruce up the windows? Thanks!
