Sprinkler Pump keeps kicking on and off while running

Help! My Lawn sprinkler when it is running keeps kicking on and off or "clicking" like it has a bad switch or something. It does have some type of Pressure tank beside it. Do I need to put air in the tank?
I would appreciate anyones help!
