You have to be careful when using I-joist for ceiling joists because you can't just cut the top angle on the I-joist to follow the top of rafter beyond the inside of the wall. 2x's you can.I-joists weren't that much more then the 2x12 x 20'
They were lighter, stronger & easier to install
