Hello everyone,:)

I've been online for a while trying to find any clues that can help me with building a garage into a slopping garden . The whole property is on quite a long slop, the next door already have levelled out their front garden and placed a garage right off the main road and have a drive way and foot path next to it up to the house . I'm looking to buy the house next door but I’d like to know how much work and money is involved in digging out and levelling the front garden and placing a long garage underneath. I've "googled" garage in a hill, underground garage (Just got music !!) all sorts of variants on that sort of search but I’ve not found any help what so ever... Can anyone here please lend any guidance ?
:whistling2:

Thanks in advance

Putting in and under graund garage is going to be very expensive. It would require proper engineering in the back, side walls, and roof to suport the weight of the soil and to hold back the slip pressure of the earth behind it.

To be totally candid with you, I think it is a crying shame your neighbor did that to the neighborhood. It is kind to call something like that only an eyesore. Sorry, but I'm sure I won't be the only one to see it that way.
  • It destroys what could be some beautiful front lawns.
  • You are required to trek up and down the hill to reach your car or come home... in rains and whatever... not to mention carrying things.
  • It is completely inviting to vandals or theft right out there, so close to the road.
  • It can so easily be hit by a car going past.
  • You will be backing out right into oncoming traffic on the street, right?
Why not build something up there where your car is parked. It could be blended into the house to be quite attractive and architecturally conforming... it would also hide that white lean-to shed.
