Hi,

I am going have a finished basement of 1000 sq/ft which includes a theater room of 12X16. Currently I am in process of planning in stalling duck work to my basement.
So I am thinking not to put duck work in the theater room because in the winter if we have just come down to basement for just watching movie. so I just don't want to turn up the thermostat in up stair and let other parts of basement to heat and over heat the main living area, Instead turn on space heater in the theater room.

is it better to place a space heater in the room without touching thermostat and save electricity bills ?

I don't have multiple zone in house.

Thank you in advance.

Changing the duct work around is not always that easy. If the winter is the only problem season a couple of oil radiators will be silent and you can turn the on and off as needed.
Ductwork always runs the risk of mechincal noise invading the space.
