Hello all im looking to redo my roof. it is currently shingles but i want to do a complete tear off. Im trying to get a few ideas. Is the metal similar to shingles where you put down #30 paper and then the metal goes over it? or does metal need a different underlayment? thanks guys
Check the installation manual for the metal roof system(s) you are interested in. Requirements vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model.
The metal roof that I had installed last month was over very old shingles, cut a few curled edges, put down #30 paper (which was manufacture's spec) and then a 26g 5v metal, passed both inspections with permits showing there was no tear-off, saved time, money and land-fill space.
