1. On every three prong plug I see, there are holes in the ends of the power and neutral prongs. What are those holes for?

2. What's the difference between hospital grade duplex receptacles, commercial grade duplex receptacles and regular residential grade duplex receptacles? My understanding is that residential grade receptacles have brass plated steel screws for the power connection and commercial grade have solid brass screws for the power connection. What more does a hospital grade duplex receptacle offer other than a red dot? And do they all use nickel plated steel screws for the neutral connection?

For what it's worth, I found out about the holes in the plug prongs. There are bumps on the contact strips inside the receptacle. When the plug is inserted, those bumps slide into the holes in the prongs, and that holds the plug in the receptacle more securely.

My mind is jumping ahead. Hospital bed? Some hospitals have outlets that are connected to generators in case of power failure. We are supposed to put all essential equipment, i.e. oxygen compressors, vent, IV pumps on those outlets. I think they were red. Beds can usually be done manually if needed. Air bed inflation may be a problem w/o.
