3-way switch

Switch in position 1:
Black traveler terminal = 62v
Red traveler terminal = 120v
White common terminal = 120v

Switch in position 2:
Black = 0v
Red = 120v
White = 0v

All values referenced against the bonding conductor. Haven't opened up the other 3-way switch or the lights. Lights and switches appear to be functioning normally.

Where does the 62v come from?

Unbonded while having metal covers. I learned of the voltages while verifying presence/absence of voltage. Unbonded status is now resolved. Why are you whistling?

Red traveler is energized by the other switch.

Position 1 -- This switch connects white common to energized red. Your meter is sensitive enough to pick up phantom voltage induced in isolated black from red juxtaposed in same cable, voltage relative to bonding conductor.

Position 2 -- The switch connects white common to unenergized black traveler. Any phantom voltage is dissipated to neutral through load (light) at far end of white wire.

Wire color usage is incorrect. The white wire should not be used to go from the switch to the load. In this case you would need to use the white wire as a traveler.

Phantom voltage caused by close proximity to energised conductors !
Put a test lamp on it and I bet it goes away !

Agree with the above. No problem with the voltages. The switch is working properly. The 62 volts is phantom and not important.
