My neighbor wants help with his old wood front door. He wants to refinish it but does not know if it is veneer or solid wood. I suspect veneer but would appreciate confirmation if anyone can tell from these pics. It is super dry and pretty fragile. Thanks in advance for any input.

That edge does look like veneer. You should still be able to do a light sanding and stain + finish or primer and paint.
