Hi Everyone! Very happy to make a first post upon finding this site today. Let's talk about improving soil for St. Augustine grass. We're talking Texas Gulf Coast conditions. The first thing that comes to mind is when the new sod arrives it is usually a very heavy clay soil. I like to add gypsum to begin the process of loosening the clay. Also dolomite to add calcium for the grass nutrients. Some organics like compost or peat moss also will create a benefit. Just need to let time do its work, can't leave that out. Would appreciate other's input!
