Getting ready to finish up the soffits on my workshop and wondering if I should use a vent on the gable soffit itself or if holes drilled into the attic space just below the roof (yellow arrows) will be adequate. Once the siding goes up there will be a closed cavity about 3"x9" that runs from the birdbox to the ridge. I'd like to keep the gable soffits clean looking without vents if I can. I do have 4 eave soffit vents on each side of the building and also gable vents to keep the attic vented when the ceiling gets finished. Thanks.

No need for soffit vents on the gable ends of your shop. Put them on the other two sides.

Got vents on the other sides (eaves) open to the roof and gable vents. I just thought the gable ends being closed off with an air space in between the roof and soffit that I would have to let air get in there somehow to prevent moisture from condensing when the roof heats up on the cold mornings. If not needed, great, I can press on.
