Hi,

I wasn't able to find this answer by searching, so I hope someone has some insight. I have to install soffit vents around my house, because there aren't enough. When I cut the openings, is it necessary to paint the new exposed edges? The vent will cover them and air will be flowing past, so it seems unnecessary to me, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

If you are talking about wood, edge priming and painting a cut edge is always recommended with exterior applications.

Since it's under the soffit and the weather can't get to it probably not necessary but good in insurance.
