I'm sure there have been a few that have made this mistake in the past. I ordered new Pella 850 Series windows from Menards. When they were ordered, they were ordered with a 6 9/16" jamb when it should have been 4 9/16":whistling2:. Yea I know, kind of a crappy deal, but they are here and I need to find a way to cut these down and deal with this "small" problem. Any recomendations? I will be having one of my carpenter friends helping me install them, so i'm sure he's got an idea, but maybe someone has made this mistake in the past. Thanks for all the info in advance!!!!

Just took a measurement of that extension, and it measures out 2 3/4". Wont that be too much?
The only person right now who can answer that question is you, as you're the only one standing in your house and see exactly your construction.

I don't know how you can even order pre installed extensions as the installed window will not sit the same as the current window. They're made differently. I always order extension casing and field install it.

You have to knock off the jamb extensions. Install the window and then determine what additional wood needs to be added. It is really no big deal...Please don't take offense to this, but this is really a basic and simple problem to deal with. You may want to contact a professional about installing your windows. I'd hate to see you have issues with such a large purchase due to improper installation.
...just noticed that you will have a carpenter helping you. I'm sure he should be able to handle the situation...If not, then my above advice stands.
