I just moved into a new apartment 3 weeks ago and I am noticing there are small circular holes in every room on the walls and painted over..Before i do any kind of improving here does this sound like a pest problem? I have been seeing silverfish and the exterior has old pine wood that is rotting and falling off..What do you think?

Are the holes at regular intervals or randomly placed on the walls?

About the size of a dime they are painted over white paint i am going to try to take a picture but its hard because of the paint. Why what does it sound like to you? Btw i am renting i told landlord about the silver fish and gnat infestation and he gave me 3 cans of raid??? It did nothing.

Might it have been treatment holes for pests or blowing insulation in old, empty walls?

That must be some darn good paint to cover up dime size holes in the walls.

Access holes for the exterminator to get something injected in the walls. They are too small for insulation. They could be carpenter bee holes but I have never heard of them coming through interior walls.

As for the silverfish it is too bad you landlord is willing to spend on wasted fortune on consumer products and not anything on a competent pest control specialist with licenses to use stuff that actually works.

If you have wet and rotting pine on the outside I am surprised silverfish the worst of your problems.

i would start documenting your conversations with this landlord.. write down what is said dates and times.. and if possible report all conversations through email..

sounds like your holes are access to pest control in the walls.. but he said there have never been bugs...and has bug control products on hand..

what a shifty situation you have entered into.. protect yourself.. document the conversations.. and when **** hits the fan withold your rent money in escrow until the problem is resolved.

How do you paint over dime sized holes? Wouldn't have taken but a few minutes to mud over them. They were there on move in day, or are you just now noticing them?
Is the carpet brand new? Maybe the previous tenant had a drug deal gone bad.

i agree with an earlier post. give him a week to do something about the bugs professionally not just cans of spray if nothing is done put that rent money in escrow and watch him fix that problem pretty quickly...landlords want their money and as long as u r paying him and being a push over he or she is gonna do nothing that costs them money to fix ur problem...if they are not getting paid then watch the tables turn!!!!
