Hi

I need to remove a screen door to replace the screen. I've seen a number of videos explaining how to adjust the tension screws but I'm pretty sure my door doesn't have those screws. How do I get the door out of its tracks if there are no tension screws??

Thanks
Mitch

I would slide the door all the way one way and look for screws that go straight up in that head track, and remove them. Then slide the door all the other way and remove the rest of them. Then unhook the spring. That head track should pop out. You might have to give it a whack with a thin stiff putty knife and a hammer if it's been glued on with varnish.

If there are no screws in the head track, let us know.

No - no screw in that little hole. I think the suggestion to take the top track off completely is probably right. That's what I was thinking but didn't want to do that if it wasn't necessary. (My DIY skills are not up to much and things I take apart don't always go back together again!!:biggrin2:)

I'll give this a go at the weekend.

Thanks for your help

Well.....not exactly as planned. The head track was well and truly stuck to the frame. I tried prying it off but I was starting to bend the metal and was worried about splintering the wood. So back to the drawing board. I ended up replacing the screen with the door still in place. A little harder on the arms but it seemed to come out OK and the dog hasn't put her head through it yet!!

The tip about taking photos helped though. At one point I took the handle off the screen door - not sure why I thought that would help - but I wouldn't have got it back on without the pictures!
