No you cannot use a 10" compound miter saw to cut slate...use a water tile saw.

i dont know how to post correctly....i am not experinced in laying floor and need help.. dont have the money to let a pro do it anyways just bought a house and want slate flooring ...no carpet ....no way ..is this a imkposable task to attempt ? what can i use to cut slate ?i read u can use a mason blade.......help........:thumbsup:

YOU, are asking for trouble in many ways. The first thing to do is choose a more installer/user friendly floor tile for openers. Then acquire the proper tools before you venture out. Then next week hire a pro to finish the installation.

Instead of slate find some tile that looks the same & use that
Then use a tile saw to cut it
I tiled my last bathroom - came out pretty good for my 1st attempt
I've done a bit of tiling now, I won't try slate
