Skimming exterior exposed aggregate patio

I have a ~20 year old exposed aggregate patio that is not very nice to walk on with bare feet but is otherwise in decent structural shape, so I'm thinking of skimming it with something just to give a nicer look and feel. Searching around, I found a nice looking product called Elitecrete thin-finish, but it's only available to professional installers. Are there any similar products for DIYers that I should consider?

May be just me but no way would I try to skim coat aggregate!
Nothings going to want to stick to stone, then what do you do when it fails?

I know nothing about this stuff, but FWIW I've seen many references to professionals doing it, some directly, some after grinding, and some with a base coat prior to the finish (which I assume bonds better?)
