SIP in Florida!

Hi everyone! A newbie here and I have some DIY experience - you know, changing lightbulbs, painting a room or hanging a picture -- not really!).

The "SIP" I refer to in my title is: Structural Insulated Panels. That's what my home was constructed with....except... it was built in the mid 1970's and not like the SIPs of today. Most SIPs have a type of foam core sandwiched with a type of "oriented strand board". Mine's a little different. The foam core is sandwiched with actual siding on the outside and sheetrock on the inside. Yep, one solid piece and no studs.

Although the house is well insulated, it presents problems when it comes to remodeling. And of course a house built in the mid '70s definitely needs some remodeling!!

So, I'll frequently be asking questions that I hope someone can answer, especially since I have these funky walls. (I think the panels were even used for some of the interior walls.) I'm always up for a great challenge!!

Nice to meet y'all!!

Hi and welcome! It sounds like if and when you DO have questions, with those walls, it should give some of these guys a real mental workout!
