Anyone have any experience with the single coat stucco by Quikcrete and other companies with the fiberglass additives? Thinking about using it on my home instead of the usual 2 or 3 coats since I'll be doing it myself and it will go a lot faster. Anyone? Good/bad/indifferent?

I would think you still want at least 2 coats. One base coat and one finish coat.

Also, it is a lot cheaper to just buy premixed mortar, Type S, and add a hand full of fibers per bag.

Premixed stucco, 80#: $13-18.00 bucks

Premixed Type S mortar, 80#: $5-6.00 bucks
Fiber mesh, 1.5# (enough to do 40 bags of mortar): $6-10 bucks.

I called HD and I can bulk order a pallet of the single coat for $9 a bag (42 bags per pallet) so the price is pretty comparable.

I haven't used Quickcrete's version but have used other FRS. We've done the base coat with a finish coat as well as scratch coat with brown coat then finish coat.

Now you really got me thinking about this with the Type S mortar.:(
