Hi All -

Simple wiring question and I appreciate the help. I have a current vent fan that needs to be replaced and it is currently hard wired (2 wires - black and white).

The new vent fan has a plug so I need to convert the wires into a plug and surface mount it. Seems pretty simple. Question is do I just use a standard plug and wire it up? I have to surface mount the box as well.

If you already have box where the old fan was connected, install the receptacle in that box.

Thanks! I think its just wires in conduit but that's a good idea. I just use a metal box and switch correct? Nothng special?

Why do you need a switch? Use a metallic box and a proper box connector to attach the conduit to the box.

I think OP just had a brain fart and typed "switch" instead of the "plug" used in the 1st post.
