My wife wanted a nice outdoor garden that was safe from wild rabbits as well as our two dogs, so I put together a 4' pressure treated wood fence that incorporates wire mesh buried 6" down. The goal was to make it look a bit nicer than t-post. I also was able to build it without using any concrete - this obviously won't last as long, but it makes the fence mostly freestanding, meaning removable in the event that we move out of this house. The design buries the chicken wire / hex mesh 6" underground, and has completely kept the dogs and rabbits out.

After that, we put in some plain (no pressure treating) 2x4 raised beds.

I think the end result came together pretty well. I have included a writeup on how to actually do each component yourself.

Nice one! You have a great place to for attractive gardening. You may use natural stone or concrete stones near the pathways. Also plant beautiful shrubs and trees this will beautify your garden more.

Not sure where you live or how much rainfall you receive, but if that's std-gauge ckn-wire, the buried part will not last too long. I have an 85 acre ranch west of Houston and over 23 yrs, learned a few things.

I had tons of armadillos, rabbits, skunks, etc coming thru the barb-wire fence and got REAL TIRED of filling in the holes the a-dillos made. I used 1" sq galvanized field fencing wire that had a 3ft tall by 200ft per roll dimension. I used 14 rolls of it. I bent 10" in an "L" shape and had the 10: facing outside and the 2+feet I nailed to the cedar fence posts. POint is, any diggers coming in dug at the base and immediately hit the "L" part of the wire. I did not bend it at a full 90 degrees, so it bit the ground well. Native grass grew inbtw sq's and it secured well. I also used a tool to secure the fence to the barb-wires too...extra nice deterrent.

Anyway, it sounds like you wanted it temporary, so it might not rot and deteriorate before you move anyway, but labor is a precious commodity to me so I want to limit how many times I have to go back...good luck w your garden and it looks really nice - tstex
