I have used the ouside silcock several times this spring but when I just went to shut if off it is still wide open. I turned it all the way to the right, tried adjust the stem nut, but the water is all the way on. Any suggestions short of changing it out?
You may have a rising stem sillcock, with a broken stem. If so, the cost and effort to repair will exceed many times the cost and time to simply replace the piece.
I did shut the water off inside the house. Of course I just finished painting the house and now I have to do some hot work to replace the silcock and try not to burn the paint. Thanks for the advice.
