Hi there,

I want to purchase a mount that sticks to the siding on my house and looks nice! I measured my siding and its about 3 1/4 down and 1/4 inch lip.... Right now the light had a big gap in the back and was horrible... Probably why it failed.

Please review my pictures and you can probably see what I am talking about...

The box is protruding too far, perhaps so that the fixture can fit over the awkward texture of the wall.

There are special molds/boxes that go on vinyl siding like that to make a flat surface for your light fixture.

You need a siding block. They come in various shapes, sizes and purposes.

You will need to caulk the block to the siding and the fixture to the block. I think failure to caulk between your previous fixture and the siding was the problem.

Is that vinyl siding?
If so a store bought flush mounts not going to work.
The box would have to be in the middle of the lap for it to work.

Check out these siding boxes from Arlington industries. Home Depot sells some of these.

But I went ahead and bought the Arlington 8141DBL on Amazon. I am hoping that this will do the trick with minimal caulking...
