If you need excessive force to get this shower assembly out you could have a problem. I doubt you will though.
Do wipe out the threads of the fittings for sure if you can reach them.
As you fit the neck into the wall, go slow to make sure you engage the threads properly. You don't want to cross thread that hidden connection or you will have to pull the wall apart to fix it.
