Here's what Im working with ... I got a quote of $750 to replace the valve and repair the wall. is that reasonable ? Also I'm pretty handy myself and it doesn't seem to complicated, any suggestions and potential pitfalls would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds reasonable. Imo.

If you do go the diy route, it may be easier and cheaper to remove all that old galvanize piping and go with pex while you got everything opened up. Just a suggestion.
