I want to preface this with being the furthest thing from anything that involves water. I am a good swimming but that is as far I go, good as a worst case scenario:wink2:.
I had a guy put in my tile and thought he was a plumber and has left me with nothing but a mess. Now I have spent way too much money trying to just get this right. I have a shower valve(KOHLER K-304-KS-NA) that was replaced and now there is a gap between the escutcheon(Trim kit: K-T395-4S-CP) and the wall. I looked for an easy fix that other companies have to resolve it with an extension escutcheon to close the gap or at least come very close and call it a day but with my luck Kohler does not make one. I am afraid to call another plumber and leave me stuck with different problem. I have pictures of the issue front and back side hope it helps and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to help educate me so I am not left out of another $400 and incomplete job.
With that said I have had a couple plumbers here who have not wanted to change my shower valve probably due to the work involved and now leaves me with where I am at currently.
BTW: The electrical is also being moved, and most likely all replaced.

Any and all help would be appreciate 100% Thanks in advanced.

just cut the rest of the wall stud and pull back the shower body and sister the stud the best you can..

I was typing a response almost the same ----

He also cut the tile opening to small for you to use the built in shut off valves. Step back a bit an post a picture of the shower head and tub spout piping---the spout piping might prevent you from pulling the vavle into proper alignment.

The rest of the back wall is not open, only up to that point. I can open it if I absolutely have to currently my daughter is sleeping in that room.
Oh ok, so I forgot to add, that I tried just pulling the shower valve back and it doesnt have much give maybe 1/4 inch. Is there anything that I can suggest to a plumber have it pulled back further or will the pipe give to make up the difference?

I would also get the romex wire off the shower body unless you want to die in the shower..

Opening on the tile side can be opened up with a Roto Zip and a Tile bit.
Remove the cartridge and unsolder the two supply elbows on the valve, have someone push on the trim ring to get it flat to the wall and resolder the elbows.
(make sure the waters turned off and lines have been bleed)

Thanks, I will see if I can have this done on Thursday. If there isn't enough play in the pipes going up to the shower and down to the faucet , would it okay for elbows to also be installed in those 2 spots, so a total of 4 elbows to sit it back far enough ?

There is no need to add anything, what's there will work once those elbows that are there now are loose.

Hey all I wanted to provide you guys with a huge thanks and an update. We cut that remaining piece of 2x4 and then we were able to chip out the rest of the wall to show the shut offs, loosen the faucet on the tub and pull back the pipe close enough to make the escutcheon flush and used pipe straps into the 2x4. Everything is nice and tight and looks great, biggest part is that the wife is happy.
Huge Thanks saved me ton of headache and prob $s along with it. :biggrin2:
