About all you did was scrape the paint, texture & taping compound off the drywall.

Damaged drywall should be cut out & replaced.
Got a mess there.
If it was mine I'd be cutting out all that damage and replacing with new drywall.
All that loose paints going to be an issue if you just try and just skim coat it .
Damn, i guess no easy way out? after I change the drywall, what a good sealer? Don't feel like spending $50 dollars for redgard just to do that little piece. By the way, thanks for the help and Merry Xmas
Cut out any loose paper----prime with Gardz---fill larger voids with 20 minute Easy Sand---then skim coat with all purpose---sand, prime and paint.

Look online. Where are you that it cost that much?

I live near Jax, not to far from you. But that's the price in Home Depot
You need something to keep the water in the mud from blistering the paper----
What primer do you have around the house?

Gardz is the best I've found for that purpose---but anything that will petrify the torn paper will do.
Depot sells Rx35 which will work. I just looked it up at my Depot and it's $87.88 for a case for Guardz. Call around some regular paint store find one that handles Zinsser products. Should only be around $20 a gallon.
